Stephen Marci, who's created a sock-hop ambiance complete with a jukebox, old-time ketchup bottles and a luncheonette-style counter at his Yonkers restaurant Rosina's Coffee Shoppe, feels the same. Hence, their retro candy bar serving old-time favorites like Charleston Chew's, candy necklaces and taffy by the pound. Jim and Jennifer Vellano, owners of the newly opened Bedford Candy Bar in Bedford, believe the pandemic created a need for people to "recover" and feel happy and excited about being in a space that attracts all ages. In just four months, seven new retro dining spots and shops have opened in Westchester, and several longtime favorites are finding new fans. The well-worn adage, "what's old is new again" has never been more apt.
